The Govin brothers make it a point to support young minority entrepreneurs. They share a strong tie to a community that has provided their family with success, and found their way to give back through the USF Latino Scholarship Program. The Govin’s scholarship program sends two outstanding Hispanic students to prestigious Florida Universities every year.

MarkMaster’s 2010 Latino Scholarship Winners

Every year MarkMaster Inc., sends two Hispanic students to prestigious Florida Universities through their Latino Scholarship Program.

This year the scholarship recipients Maria Govea, a Nursing major and Victor Basantes, a Computer Science major are both attending USF. On April 4th, they toured the MarkMaster facilities with President, Mark Govin. They learned about the company, its products and its processes. Jessica List, Assistant Director of Development-Scholarships at USF said, “The students are eager to stay in touch with their sponsor and to share some of their progress. I think it’s a good experience for them to visit a business and learn a little about what it takes to run a business in the real world.”

The USF Latino Scholarship program relies on sponsors like MarkMaster, Inc. to make higher education possible for many young Latino students. With over 175 students funded for Fall 2011, over $375,000 has been donated. About 300 donors are involved in the program including MarkMaster, Inc.

MarkMaster is proud of its scholarship program and looks forward to choosing their two annual recipients. As Mark Govin stated, “We have received so much from our community. This is one way we can give back.”
